Every marketer who sells a downloadable product online (be it an Ebook, or software program), should be aware of the fact that their download -or “Thank-You”- page, can be found by entering specific terms via Google, or any other search engine.
That’s why you need to protect your download pages.
To do this, you can add some simple meta tags to your page(s), like this:
When you sell a .PDF file, you should also “zip” it, because the search engines can read .PDF files. You can use a free copy of jZip to do that.
Another method to prevent people from stealing your product is by adding an index.htm file in your download folder. If you don’t add an index page, the folder will be open, and anyone can get your goods.
You can also use an Ebook compiler program that includes complete security. Doing this will prevent the search engines from listing your download pages to non-paying customers, reducing product theft, and increasing your income.
